How to Install Any Addon on Kodi in 3 Simple Steps

Kodi is one of the most popular media centers in the world. But, what if you want to play a particular flavor of Kodi? well this guide will show you three easy steps on how to install an addon on Kodi for free and how to install an addon on Kodi in 3 simple steps!

In this tutorial I will take you through how to install all kinds of Kodi addons on your Kodi device. This is a great way of getting access to more channels or being able to follow your favorite streamers.

In this tutorial I will show you how to install an addon on Kodi. The described method can be used on FireStick, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV, Android boxes, Android phones and all other Kodi compatible devices.

We recently updated our list of the best Kodi addons and added dozens of new working Kodi addons. Unfortunately, many of the existing addons in this list do not work. But here’s the good news: The new addons are even better than some of the old popular addons that don’t work.

I will publish separate installation instructions for each add-on. This may take some time. In the meantime, if you want to install an addon from our list, you can follow these general instructions. The installation steps are basically the same for all add-ons. For simplicity, we have included the name of the archive and a hyperlink to the source for each addon.

Attention KODI users: please read before continuing

Kodi addons / modules offer unlimited streaming content, but can also get you in legal trouble if you get caught watching movies / TV shows / sports for free. Kodi users are strongly advised to always connect a VPN when streaming online. A good Kodi VPN can hide your identity, bypass government surveillance, block content, and ISP throttling (which also contributes to buffer-free streaming).

I use ExpressVPN, which is the fastest and most secure VPN. It is very easy to install on any device, including the Amazon FireStick. Get 3 months free and save 49% on annual plans. There is also a 30 day money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, you can always ask for a refund.

Installation conditions

Most Kodi add-ons are created by third-party developers. Kodi has internal security settings that do not allow the installation of such addons. To install your favorite addons on any device, you must first change this setting. Here are the steps:

#1 Open Kodi and then the settings on the home screen.

System 2 Click

#3 Select Add-ons on the left side of the screen.

#4 Now enable the Unknown Sources option on the right (if it is disabled or not active).

#5 Press Yes when prompted.

How do I install an addon on Kodi

The installation of an add-on consists of three main parts:

  • Add a source
  • Install the repository
  • Placement of the superstructure

I will look at these 3 components in the following steps. In this guide, I will use the Exodus Redux addon as an example. For all other video add-ons, however, the process remains the same.

#1 Launch Kodi and open the settings

#2. Click on File Management

#3 Click Add Source

#4 When you see the following window, click <No>.

#5. Enter the source URL in the empty field above and click OK.

Message: We have provided a source URL for each addon in our addon list. You must enter the exact URL in the field as shown in the image below.

For example, the source URL of the Exodus Redux addon is

#6 Type a source name in the Enter a name for this media source field, and then click OK.

Message: You can choose any name you want. The idea is to make the title recognizable at the source.

For example, I chose redux for the source I used as an example in this tutorial

You have successfully added a resource. The first part is now complete. Now we go to the next part, where we install the repository.

#7. Now go back to the Kodi home screen and press the Tools button.

#8 Click on the open box icon in the top left corner (also called package installer).

#9 Click on Install from Zip file

#10 : You should now click on the name you chose for the resource in step 6.

In our example it is redux .

#11 : On the next screen you should see a zip file of the archive. We’ve put the repository name for each addon in our Kodi addon list so you know which repository you’re looking for. Some sources contain multiple repositories.

Message: You may not be able to find the zip file of the archive directly when you click on the name of the source. Some repositories are in directories within the source code. Since you know the name of the archive, it should be easy to find it in the directories.  Zip files normally use the following naming convention:

We use the Exodus Redux repository as an example in this guide. That’s what it looks like.

#12 : Now wait for the message that the repository has been installed. It is displayed in the top right corner of the window.

You have successfully installed the archive and completed part 2. We now move on to the third and final part, where we install an add-on from the repository.

#13 : Click on Install from Memory

#14 : Click on the repository you installed (in this case, the Exodus Redux repository).

#15 : Additions to the video

#16 : Then click on the addon you want to install from the repository (in this case, Exodus Redux).

#17 : Click on Set Up Message
: In Kodi 18, you will see an additional pop-up window (not shown in the image). Then click on OK.

Message: In Kodi 18, you will see an additional pop-up window.  Then click on OK.

#18 : Wait until the notification of the add-on installation appears in the top right corner of the window.

That’s it! You have successfully installed the selected addon. Now navigate to this on the Kodi home screen > Add-ons > Video add-ons.

Before you start streaming video with Kodi addons or modules, I want to warn you that everything you stream on Kodi is visible to your ISP and the government. This means that streaming copyrighted content (free movies, TV shows, live broadcasts and sports) can lead to legal problems.

Fortunately, there is a reliable way to hide all your streaming activities from your ISP and the government. All you need is a good VPN for Kodi. A VPN masks your original IP address and helps you bypass Internet monitoring, ISP restrictions, and geographic content limitations.

Personally, I use and recommend ExpressVPN, the fastest and most secure VPN. It is compatible with all types of applications and streaming devices.

OPINION: We do not encourage copyright infringement. But what if you accidentally upload content from an illegal source? It is not always easy to distinguish between a legal and an illegal source.

So before you start streaming on Kodi, read here how to get VPN protection in 3 easy steps.

Step one: Purchase your ExpressVPN subscription HERE. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. This means you can use it for free for the first 30 days. If you are not satisfied with the service (which is unlikely), you can ask for a full refund.

Step two: Click HERE to download and install the ExpressVPN application on your streaming device. If you are using a FireStick, I have included the exact steps below, starting with step 4.

Step three: Click on the power icon to connect to the VPN server. That’s it. Now your connection is secure with the fastest and best VPN for Kodi.

The steps to install Kodi VPN on Fire TV devices are described below. If you have other broadcast devices, follow steps 1 to 3 above.

Step four: Sign up for ExpressVPN HERE (if you are not already a subscriber).

Step 5: Go to the Fire TV Stick home screen. Click the Search button and then the Search option (see figure below).

Step six: Type expressvpn into the search bar and select when it appears.

Seventh step: Click on the Download button.

Step 8: Open the ExpressVPN application and log in using the username and password you created when you purchased your ExpressVPN subscription.

Step 9: Click on the power icon to connect to the VPN server. That’s it. Now your FireStick is protected with the fastest VPN.

So here is how to install an addon on Kodi. The installation process is the same for all add-ons, except for the part where you look for the repository zip file in the source name (step 11). Finding the zip file is easy. But if you have any problems, let me know in the comment section below. I’ll walk you through the steps. And, as I said, we will be creating separate guides for all of our popular add-ons in the near future.
